The 'Wild Flowers of Loophead, County Clare, Ireland is a colourful, botanical, poetic and artistic book. It develops a botanical atlas of the Wild flora of the Western Loophead Region, covering each of the significant habitats in the area - The Open exposed/peaty/tufted Moors at Ross and Loophead, the Rocky and Sandy shores of Rhynvella and Ross and the Hedgerows, Waysides, Verges and drains of the quiet inner roads of the area. The book is infused with Carmel's poetry written around the area and its flora, and the final chapter presents the Inspired Artworks created from her family's 300 year ancestral immersion in this isolated unsheltered territory where her parents Mai and PJ Magner still reside in the oldest house in Ross.
The book consists of 148 colourful pages with photos of the flora, their descriptions and some general comments on their medicinal and herbal uses, their folklore or perhaps a sense of their inspirational qualities to artists, poets and writers.
